Three ways to improve your smile

Three ways to improve your smile

Do you have chips and cracks that you would love to get rid of?

Or, maybe your teeth are starting to look discoloured and stained as you get older? Fortunately, there are now so many ways to improve the appearance of teeth and to conceal and repair imperfections that may be causing you to feel unhappy about your smile. We offer a range of cosmetic dentistry procedures designed to rejuvenate the look of your teeth. Find out if one of our treatments could be right for you…

Consider veneers

Dental veneers are made from a very thin material and are designed to cover the front portion of the teeth. They can be used to conceal a wide range of cosmetic imperfections, including cracks, chips, unevenness, gaps and discolouration. If you are considering a veneer, you can expect to come in for three visits. First, you will need to come in for a consultation so that we can discuss your particular needs and goals. We’ll also check that veneers are the best option for you and explain what the procedure will involve. If you are suited to veneers, we’ll make impressions of your teeth, which will be sent to a dental laboratory. Next, we’ll need to prepare your tooth by removing some of the enamel from the surface. When your veneer has been constructed, we’ll ensure that the fit and colour is right before bonding it to the surface of your tooth with the use of special cement and a light. We may ask that you come in for a final check-up after your veneer has been placed, so that we can check that your gums are responding well and that the placement looks and feels right.

Opt for a crown

Crowns are designed to look just like natural teeth and work by covering the entire surface of the tooth in order to improve both its appearance and strength. Crowns may be made from a number of materials, including porcelain ceramic, metal or a combination of both. They may be used to restore a broken tooth or a tooth that has been worn down considerably. Crowns are often a great way of improving the look of teeth that are severely discoloured or misshapen. If you are considering a crown, we will begin the process by checking the health of the tooth and determining if the treatment is right for you. When placing the crown itself, we will reshape the tooth to make space for the restoration before taking an impression, which will be sent to a dental laboratory. When the crown has been made to fit your tooth, it will be cemented in place. You’ll be given a temporary crown while you wait for your permanent crown to ensure that your tooth is protected. It’s important to take care while you have a temporary crown by avoiding sticky, chewy and hard foods that could dislodge or break the restoration — try and avoid snacks like candy and raw vegetables, for example.

Whiten your teeth

One of the easiest ways to improve the appearance of your teeth is to go for a whitening treatment. In fact, it’s no surprise that teeth whitening is now one of the most commonly used cosmetic dental procedures — it is such a simple process which you can actually do at home. We offer at-home whitening systems that involve the use of a bleaching gel and custom-made bleaching trays. You’ll simply need to come in for a consultation so that we can ensure that the treatment suits your needs. Then, we’ll take an impression of your teeth so that the bleaching trays can be fabricated to fit your teeth comfortably. We will explain how to apply the bleaching gel at home, and how long you should wear your trays for to achieve optimal results.

If you have a cosmetic issue you would like addressed, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to arrange a consultation. We’ll examine your teeth and discuss your options with you, based on your specific expectations and the condition of your teeth. We want your smile to look natural and beautiful!
