Child Dental Benefits Schedule
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a new child dental benefits programme which started on 1 Jan 2014. It gives eligible children access to up to $1,000 in benefits per child for dental services over two consecutive calendar years.
Children and teenagers are eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule if they’re aged 2 to 17 years for any one day of the calendar year, are eligible for Medicare, and are part of a family that receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or the child receives an Australian Government payment from the list available here.
Services covered include examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Orthodontic services, cosmetic dental treatment and services provided in a hospital are not covered.
You can check your child’s eligibility and balance through your Medicare online account at my.gov.au or by calling 132 011.
You must inform the practice when making an appointment that you wish to use the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. At DC Dental all examinations, x-rays and cleaning will be bulk billed so you won’t be out of pocket for these services.
Further information on the Child Dental Benefits Schedule can be found on the government website at humanservices.gov.au/childdental or by calling 132 011.
